Adventist HealthCare in Gaithersburg, MD, has selected Dallas-based HealthSearch Partners to lead the search for its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

Serving the Washington, D.C., region since 1907, Adventist HealthCare has grown to become a comprehensive healthcare system offering a full continuum of high-quality care across more than 50 facilities. Generating more than $1 billion in annual revenue, Adventist HealthCare is a regional health leader, particularly in the areas of heart, orthopedics, rehabilitation, women’s health, and mental health. The system includes more than 10,000 team members including 6,000 employees, as well as affiliated physicians and other contingent team members.

The CHRO is a strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer and executive team. He/she provides direction on the workforce implications of overall strategy and develops innovative HR solutions to meet the workforce challenges facing the healthcare environment.  The CHRO partners with entity executives and HR departments to ensure best practices are consistently achieved in recruitment, retention, talent management, performance management, employee engagement and relations, compensation, and benefits administration.

This senior executive will also ensure critical success factors are achieved such as “best place to work,” superior HR outcomes and financial success for reinvestment. This executive will help the organization continue to focus on mission as a faith-based organization and grow as an organization vital to the community.

During the first year, the CHRO will need to establish credibility as an operationally astute leader who can develop a high performing team that will strengthen employee engagement and customer service at the entity level. Specific goals have been established as measures of success for the first 18 to 24 months.

The selected candidate must be well-prepared academically with a graduate degree preferred. The individual will also preferably be credentialed in an appropriate professional society (SPHR).  The new CHRO will have a strong passion and background in HR leadership with at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience and demonstrated results in a progressive, employee-valued corporation. A preference will be shown to innovative candidates who have worked within a healthcare system environment. Executive leadership in a large multi-culturally diverse organization (3,000+ employees) is highly desired.

The selected candidate will also demonstrate the ability to build effective teams and to lead, mentor and develop management talent, possess strong strategic skills and thinking, have experience working with employee engagement process, and have a management style that is open and inclusive but expects accountability and measures results. The CHRO will also have a track record of commitment to patient care, sensitivity to clinical issues along with a grasp of quality management and a strong foundation in HR budgeting.

Finally, the selected candidate must exemplify and be compatible with the values of a Seventh-day Adventist Christian and faith-based organization.
