The Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association (FNSNA), based in Washington, D.C., has selected HealthSearch Partners to lead the search for a Vice President of Development and Advancement. This strategic executive role will be essential in developing and executing initiatives to expand and diversify the Foundation’s funding sources, managing donor relations, and supporting FNSNA’s mission through impactful fundraising activities. The candidate selected for this virtual role will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
Created in 1969 to honor Frances Thompkins, the Association’s first executive director, the mission of the organization is to secure scholarships and programmatic resources to support nursing education. Operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, FNSNA’s vision is to be the leading not-for-profit source of scholarships to cultivate the next generation of diverse nurse leaders and innovators. Since 1974, FNSNA has awarded more than $12 million in scholarships to undergraduate student nurses. The Foundation is organized as a 501 (C) (3) charitable foundation. Contributions to the FNSNA are tax-deductible.
The Vice President of Development and Advancement will be responsible for building, cultivating, and maintaining strong relationships with major donors, prospects, and key stakeholders while overseeing major fundraising activities, including gifts and corporate and foundation giving. He or she will also engage with community and industry leaders to enhance visibility and funding opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a Master’s degree preferred. She or he will have six to eight years of proven fundraising experience, especially in healthcare or education, and expertise in major gifts and planned giving. Being a certified fundraising executive (CFRE) is a plus.
