On the July 24 episode of The Good Leadership Podcast hosted by Paul Batz, Neill Marshall, HealthSearch Partners’ Chairman, shared his insights on “What Motivates Physicians To Want To Become Leaders.”
Based on his more than three decades of executive search experience, Marshall pointed out several factors that motivate physicians to pursue leadership opportunities.
- A desire for career growth
- A need to step away from patient care because of age or health
- Having the desire to be a leader in their DNA
- Possessing the ambition to be the king of their kingdom.
His advice to physician aspiring to be leaders is to embrace every opportunity to lead. He also strongly recommends starting on their leadership journey now. Finally, he notes relationships are key to helping physicians discover the next step on their leadership path.
