Barry R. Cesafsky serves as Senior Counsel at HealthSearch Partners, bringing more than four decades of proven experience in healthcare executive search. Originally trained as a healthcare executive, he transitioned to retained executive search in 1986 when he joined the renowned firm Witt Associates. At Witt he had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the industry’s early trailblazers including John Witt, John Lloyd, and Dan Ford His leadership and expertise led to his promotion to partner during the firm’s expansion in the 1990s.
In 2001, Barry founded CES Partners, an executive search firm dedicated to healthcare leadership. His entrepreneurial vision and commitment to excellence led to the merger of CES Partners into what is now known as HealthSearch Partners. Throughout his career, he has established a reputation for consistently delivering outstanding results for a wide range of healthcare clients—many of whom are recognized leaders in the industry. His hallmark has been a hands-on, client-focused approach, combining the professionalism of top-tier executive search with personal, relationship-driven touch.
Today, Barry’s involvement with HealthSearch Partners encompasses offering guidance and support to its next generation of leaders as they continue the firm’s tradition of high-quality, mission-driven executive search services.
Barry is a Life Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (LFACHE), a recognition of his longstanding contributions to the field. He was appointed to the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award during the early years when the program began evaluating healthcare organizations for excellence in performance.
He has also been an active member of numerous professional associations throughout his career, including the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA), American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Barry attended DePauw University before earning his bachelor’s degree from Loyola University of Chicago. He later obtained a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Administration from Xavier University, where he was honored with the university’s Distinguished Alumni Service Award. He also served several terms on the Advisory Board for Xavier’s Program in Health Services Administration.
His leadership and service extend beyond the healthcare field. In 2019, he was recognized as a Significant Sig by the Sigma Chi Fraternity, where he also holds Ritual Peer Certification. He currently serves on the Board of the DePauw Xi Chapter House Corporation and Foundation. In 2024, Barry was appointed to the Board of the Oak Brook Historical Society, reflecting his passion for preserving local history.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Barry enjoys golfing, biking, and writing his family history. He and his wife, Marcia, divide their time between their homes in Oak Brook, Illinois, and Fort Myers, Florida.
